Our eyes contain the most delicate skin on our body. The area under the eyes and the eyelids can be easily irritated by the products we use. We all want a way to combat the fine lines and dark circles we experience around our eyes and essential oils offer us a natural way to fade eye wrinkles, but we need to know which essential oils are safe to use on this delicate area.

7 essential oils that help you fade wrinkles in the eyes

Wrinkles near the eyes are the most obvious among facial wrinkles and the first to appear as we age. Essential oils have always been used to heal and help fade eye wrinkles, as well as other facial wrinkles. Here are the most commonly used and most powerful essential oils that will help reduce unsightly eye wrinkles:

Incense

Frankincense is believed to have originated in the Middle East and also in Africa, and the resin is steam distilled to produce essential oil. As reported by new research, frankincense essential oil promotes human growth hormone, or HGH, which is produced in the pituitary gland. HGH is responsible for cell regrowth that gives skin its youthful glow.

By the age of thirty, the pituitary gland slows down the production of HGH which results in the creation of wrinkles. With regular application of frankincense essential oil near the eyes, the formation of wrinkles in the eyes slows down.

Chamomile

The essence of chamomile comes from its flowers. Throughout the years, chamomile essential oil has been used to address aging problems, including preventing eye wrinkles and other facial wrinkles.

It is also commonly used to alleviate acne and improve the condition of sensitive skin. Among its other amazing benefits, chamomile also has quite a sweet and relaxing smell that helps a person deal with depression and also anxiety.

Argon

Argon essential oil from Morocco has long been known as the “miracle oil” due to its stunning beauty and overall health benefits. It has been recognized for its anti-aging qualities that help prevent the growth of wrinkles on your face, including those around the eyes.

It has also been shown to help treat numerous skin problems, as well as hair and nail problems.

Thyme

Thyme is not only famous for its culinary uses, but also for its beauty and healing applications. Its essence, taken from its leaves and flowers, is said to have thymol, which is a compound proven to help diminish the appearance and development of wrinkles, such as eye lines. Thyme is also believed to help ward off pests as well as treat depression.

Geranium essential oil to fade eye wrinkles

A lot of commercial eye wrinkle treatments have geranium essential oil. This is due to its astringent qualities that firm the muscles and loose skin near the eyes, thus preventing wrinkles.

The essential oil comes from the stems and leaves of the geranium plant, which is native to Africa but is now also identified around the world.

Jojoba

Jojoba oil, which is typically derived from the deserts of California, Arizona, as well as Mexico, has numerous benefits. A well-known characteristic of this oil is its ability to promote cell regeneration and provide moisture throughout the day.

This allows the skin to revive its flexibility, thus preventing the development of wrinkles, including eye wrinkles. Other uses for jojoba oil involve healing scars and acne; it is a makeup remover, and a moisturizing lip balm.

Grape seed

When it comes to caring for the skin around the eyes, grape seed oil does a fantastic job too. It locks in moisture in the skin and helps tighten loose, wrinkled skin around the eyes.  It has also been shown to help reduce the appearance of skin scars due to its rejuvenating components.

Lavender essential oil

Lavender is the best essential oil for fading eye wrinkles. It is gentle, soothing, and anti-inflammatory, improves elasticity and regenerates the skin. It is also very affordable.  Lavender is the best because it does all the things those other essential oils can do, all in one oil.

Recipe for your own eye serum

  • Take 2 teaspoons of your carrier oil (Argon, Jojoba, or Avocado)
  • Add a few drops of carrot seed oil
  • Add one vitamin E capsule if you are under 45 and two vitamin E capsules if you are over 45 years old
  • Add 2 – 4 drops of your chosen essential oil

Mix the carrier oil, carrot seed oil, and vitamin E capsules together. Add your essential oil. Mix well and apply a small amount gently around the eye area. Leave on for a bit and wipe off any excess.

A gentler approach to eye wrinkle treatment

You can use hydrosols or herbal teas in the eye area for a safer and gentler treatment.  Place an infusion of chamomile, lavender or roses on a cotton ball and hold them over your closed eyes that will feed your skin. It will soothe tired eyes and help get rid of infections as well as fight the signs of aging.

You can also choose to only use a vegetable oil like Argon or Jojoba and avoid using essential oils altogether.

What’s great about these wrinkle-fading essential oils is that not only do they work magic on the skin around the eyes; they also have other benefits for your skin and health.

They are natural and organic, making them safer and generally less expensive than commercially produced eye creams. These essential oils are simply fantastic.
